Revenue Quebec has announced a refundable tax credit for eco-friendly renovations to a taxpayer's principal residence or year-round cottage.
In order to qualify, the renovation work must have been undertaken by a qualified contractor between October 7, 2013 and November 1, 2014. The refundable credit is equal to 20% of the cost of qualified work exceeding $2500, and the maximum credit amount is $10,000 per house.
Some examples of qualifying work include: re-insulation; waterproofing; air sealing; replacement of doors, windows & skylights; installation of a new furnace, heat pump, fireplace or wood stove; installation of solar panels; installation of an air exchanger; decontamination of contaminated soil; installation of a wind turbine.
